We are in the midst of a heavy metal renaissance! In 2011, we had Anthrax, Megadeth and Machine Head all churning out long-awaited excellent albums. Metallica and Lou Reed released Lulu, realised it was crap and then my heroes redeemed themselves with Beyond Magnetic.
Lamb of God, on the other hand, need no redemption. They have simply produced a killer album and delivered a middle-finger to anyone who thinks metal had its day. Insurrection is my favouirite piece, but every track hits hard. For me, Lamb of God has filled the void left by Pantera. The percussion is excellent and the guitars are distinctive, but the vocals are exceptional. This is a very powerful CD - listen to it in the car and I dare you not to "gently" bang your head at the traffic lights - you'll never want the commute to end!
